FAQ's

    1. Do you do the shire applications for building approvals.

Yes, we do all paper work and approval for you and is inclusive of the price that we issue you. Depending on the speed of the shire at the time of sign up we can have approval in as little as 1 and 1/2 weeks but can take upto 4 weeks on the occasion. All we will require from you is a site plan which you will either have in your records or you can obtain a copy from the shire. We can also organise this for you at the same as what it would cost you to apply to shire direct for a copy of your site plan.

    2. How close can I go to my fence line legally.

Legally you can go as close to 750mm to the fence line within the Busselton shire. If your structure is less than approximatley 9 metres long you can get as close as 500mm to your fence line. This measurement is from the outside of the gutter to the boundary of your block. if you desire to go 500mm to your boundary but your structure is longer than 9 metres, then we can abtain a neighbours comment and providing that comes back as positive then you will still be able to go as close as 500mm to your boundary. Your columns can also be on the boundary.

    3. What is the differance between a Building application/approval and Planning.

A building approval is what we require to legally build your new outdoor area or Carport. In almost all cases you will only require the building approval. You will only require a planning approval if your house is in certain areas and/or you want to build something that lies outside the R-codes. Planning can take upto 2 or 3 months but we can usually obtain this relatively easily. Further charges will be incurred if this is the case. As every planning situation is differant we will quote this as required. Yes you will still need to get a building approval as well.

    4. If I have an existing structure that I want to renew, am I still required to get shire/building approval.

The answer is always YES. The building approval is primarily for engineering. So if we renew your old structure then it will require a new engineering document. It is also to update the R-codes that have been changed since the old structure was installed.

    5. How much cost is involved in getting shire approval.

The cost for shire approval is not governed by the shire, it is governed by the BRB (Builders registration Board) and is $125.50, providing we have a site plan. This fee is included in your price when you receive your quote.

    6. Will I need to be home when my new patio is being installed.

There is no need to be home when we install your new patio. However we will require outside power. You can go about your day as normal and when you get home you can overview the days progress.

    7. Does Absolute patios keep me informed as to what stage my patio/Carport is at.

Most definatley. We will keep you informed usually through email or if you do not have email we will do this verbally over the phone.

    8. Can I makes payments easily.

Yes, you can do this either through electronic transfer via the internet or through your bank using your surname as a referance. Alternatively you can pay by cheque. Your schedule will be on your contract and I am happy to discuss this at any time.
